Dear Colleagues, I want to thank Bernard Mollberg and Jim Watson for the great presentation on sound board rib gluing, leg and lyre troubleshooting, and their reverse engineering project on the 1919 Baldwin SD-6. The entire presentation was fascinating. Bernard’s generosity continued as he fed all who were interested in eating lunch. Thanks again Bernard and Jim. This was well worth the trip to Blanco! I’m sorry for those who missed this opportunity to see some really great piano restoration processes. Elections were held to determine the Austin Chapter Officers. No RPT’s were nominated for the position of Chapter President and chapter Vice President. I have volunteered to continue as Chapter President, and Christopher Prewitt has generously volunteered to continue as Chapter Vice President. Joe Dunn will continue as Chapter Treasurer / Secretary. Tom Seay has generously agreed to continue as our Chapter Newsletter Ninja. Thank you Chris Prewitt, Joe Dunn, and Tom. Our next chapter meeting is June 4, 2012, from 7:30 PM and may run until 9:30 PM. The meeting will be held at UT’s Butler School of Music on floor M3, in room ME 3.113. Attention PTG Associate Members!!! Attention PTG Associate Members!!! Our chapter Vice president, Chris Prewett, RPT, will be giving a presentation geared towards Associates wanting to take the PTG exams to become a Registered Piano Technician. Chris entitles his presentation: Preparing And Taking RPT Tests, the shoulds and should nots – as based on the real life experiences of an RPT of the new millennium. Chris promises to incriminate very few people. This is a great opportunity for Associates to hear first hand what Chris went through to become an RPT. Chris has a very keen and slanted sense of humor, and I’m sure he’ll include that in his presentation. I know I won’t miss it. |
