April 2009

Next meeting - Monday, April 6th, 7:30 P.M., UT Butler School of Music, Room M3.114 (mezzanine level 3M)

"Standards of Perfection in Piano Work"

Emily Kaitz will be our speaker for this meeting. She is a former Austin Chapter PTG Member and RPT who defected to Arkansas in January of 1998 and at that time resigned in good standing from the Guild. Emily will talk briefly about her background and her present life as a piano technician, as well as her continuing love for and commitment to piano work on all types of pianos and for all types of customers. Emily's other career is that of a singer-songwriter, and it is possible she might inflict a song or two upon the Guild membership. She very much looks forward to seeing everyone, and she may bring up an embarrassing story or two from the past, so watch out!

Business items that need to be taken care of at this meeting include the election of chapter officers, and the appointment of a delegate to the National Council.

A Brief Overview of Future Meetings

In May, we will be making our annual pilgrimage to Bernard Mollberg's shop, overlooking the beautiful Blanco River Valley. Bernard is still working on a topic for presentation, but we know it will be informative and inspiring. Just being in Bernard's shop is a treat. As always, we'll be meeting on a Saturday morning. This year, the appointed time is May 2nd at 10:30 a.m.

In June, we're planning on a visit from our Regional Vice-President, Norman Cantrell, who will be making a tour of various chapters within Region Three. We don't know the exact date yet, because he's still mapping out his visits. He will certainly have something to say about the Guild and the upcoming National Convention. More details about his visit will be forthcoming.

In July, as always, we will be forgoing our monthly meeting because of the National Convention. This year it's to be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on the 15th to the 19th. It's going to be a good one! For more information, go to:
